Some time ago i made a pair of socks with cotton, after using them for some time i wanted to try to make them with a thinner thread, a softer material; cotton becomes a bit stiff and with a thick weaving it becomes hard to put them on, other then the fact that i made mine too narrow, the elastic stitch should not have to expand all the way in order to fit, otherwise it will be too tight.
So i got some thinner yarn (crochet 3.0) it is a mix between wool, silk and poliamide, this time around i was looking mostly at the thickness of the yarn and less at the type of material, in any case it is quite soft to the touch. I made them much wider and have to say they are very comfy. Making socks this way takes a really long time at least for me, but i truly enjoy knitting, it is quite a zen activity and i have a feeling hand made socks could last a really, really long time!
Calze fatte a mano 2.0
Un po di tempo fa ho fatto un paio di calze con il cotone da 4 all’uncinetto, dopo averli usati per un po di tempo volevo provare a farli raddrizzando il tiro con un filato più sottile (uncinetto del 3) e più morbido; il cotone diventa un po’ rigido e con il punto più grossolano diventa difficile infilarli sopratutto dopo il lavaggio complice anche il fatto che li ho fatti troppo stretti, il punto elastico non dovrebbe doversi espandere completamente per starci.
Quindi ho preso un filato più sottile, e un misto di lana, seta e poliammide, questo giro ero più concentrata sullo spessore che non il materiale, li ho fatti molto più larghi e sono più comodi. Fare le calze in questo modo prende tanto tempo, almeno a me, ma e una bella attività zen e ho la sensazione che le calze fatte a mano possano durare veramente tanto, tanto tempo….
