My teenage son needed a chair to sit and work on the computer, posture is important in any activity. I took inspiration from a rocking kneeling chair that was given to me as a gift, it allows you to sit with a straight back while at a comfortable angle to work on the computer. I went to our garage where I keep leftover wood pieces and found the back rest of a broken chair, took a couple of leftover wood boards that matched the length and height needed. Throughout my experiments with egg shapes I had a cardboard template of an egg shape of about 80cm in height. Took the template and cut one side of the boards with the egg curve, sanded and screwed on to the backrest which was quite suitable as a seat. The result was a wonderfully comfortable stool. The desk is an old crib turned upside down, the fact that the surface of the desk is made up of several battens allows good air circulation underneath the computer and keeps it cooler especially in the summer. When using a mouse my son uses a wood board laid on top of the desk surface.

Ad uno dei miei figli adolescenti serviva una sedia per lavorare al computer, la postura e’ importante in ogni attivita. Ho tratto ispirazione da una sedia a dondolo che mi era stata regalata, ti permette di sederti con la schiena dritta ad un angolo confortevole per lavorare al computer. Sono andata in garage dove tengo i pezzi di legno avanzati e ho trovato uno schienale di una sedia che si era rotta, ho preso due tavole di legno che avevano la stessa misura dello schienale e l’altezza adeguata. Dopo tanti esperimenti con la forma ad uovo avevo una dima di una forma molto grande, 80cm circa di altezza. Ho preso la dima e tagliato un lato delle tavole con la curva ad uovo, levigato e avvitato i pezzi sullo schienale che come seduta era molto adatto. Il risultato e’ stato uno sgabello meravigliosamente confortevole. La scrivania e’ fatta da un vecchio lettino per bambini rovesciato. Il fatto che la superficie del tavolo sia fatta da diversi listelli permette un buon flusso di aria sotto il computer ed evita il surriscaldamento sopratutto in estate. Quando utilizza il mouse mio figlio apoggia una tavola di legno sopra la superficie della scrivania.
