Some months ago I started the renovation of our garage. It has a metal structure, metal mesh, wooden poles to fix a plastic sheet as closure. I had evaluated taking it down and buying a prefabricated garage in wood but decided to reuse what was already there giving me the opportunity to experiment further with cob. I added bamboo branches woven into the metal mesh and filled with cob. The cob mixture I’m using is made from earth mounds made by moles, such a wonderful job they do with earth! It is as though it was sieved! I add water, EM, some hay cut into small pieces and sieved ashes from our stove until the right consistency is achieved.

terra cruda ristrutturazione/ recupero
Alcuni mesi fa ho iniziato la ristrutturazione del nostro garage. Ha una struttura con tubi di metallo, rete metallica, pali di legno per fissare lastre di plastica come chiusura. Avevo valutato di smontarlo e acquistare un garage prefabbricato in legno ma ho deciso di riutilizzare quello che c’era già dandomi la possibilità di sperimentare ulteriormente con la terra cruda. Ho aggiunto rami di bambù intrecciati nella rete metallica e riempiti di terra cruda. La miscela che sto usando è fatta da tumuli di terra fatti da talpe, un lavoro così meraviglioso che fanno con la terra! È come se fosse stata setacciata! Aggiungo acqua, EM, un po’ di fieno tagliato a pezzetti e ceneri dalla nostra stufa settacciata fino ad ottenere la giusta consistenza.
