behind the house verbascum or mullein grows abundantly, she quite stands out with her centered tall shape and her large fluffy hairy leaves, don’t know if one of my neighbors planted the first plant or if it is all spontaneous, fact is, she likes it here. she spread into a patch that has been agreed i can keep as i please, so i’ve had the opportunity to let it grow, many of them, so i can collect a lot of flowers and make syrup.
mullein can be used entirely, flowers, leaves and root, for some reason most literature is english, it seems in italy it is hardly used, in other parts of the northern hemisphere though it has been long used to treat respiratory ailments, i am making the flower syrup and will harvest some leaves to dehydrate for later use.

dietro casa il verbasco cresce abbondante, si riconosce facilmente con la sua forma alta centrale e le sue grandi foglie morbide e pelose, non so se la prima pianta è stata piantata e poi si è sparsa oppure è tutta spontanea, in ogni caso, qui sta bene. si è propagata in un appezzamento che sto curando a modo mio, in accordo con i vicini, quindi ho avuto l’occasione di lasciarle crescere, tante, quindi ci sono tanti fiori per lo sciroppo.
del verbasco può essere utilizzata tutta la pianta, per qualche motivo la maggior parte della letteratura che ho trovato è in inglese, sembrerebbe che in italia è meno utilizzata, in altre parti invece ha una lunga storia di utilizzo per i disturbi respiratori in varie forme, sto raccogliendo i fiori per lo sciroppo e raccoglierò qualche foglia da essiccare.
